A few problems...

The boat is excellent and comfortable for cruising, but I had a few problems while sailing. The wind speed and boat speed instruments were not working, the inverter was not working, and the sea water intake was blocked, so with only one toilet for eight people for five days. To be fair, it was unblocked at check-out, but it was very stiff and we were afraid of breaking it. In my opinion, these are things that should not happen, especially at the start of the season. Overall, however, our judgment of the vacation remains positive.

Highly professional

This was certainly the most professional charter I have come across over the years (perhaps too much so). The boat, although not new (2006), was kept in perfect condition. Portisco is a nice marina, convenient for reaching the Maddalena archipelago, which, with the beauty and proximity of the islands, the sea, wind, and sheltered waters, is the perfect place for sailing. Only small downsides: check-in and check-out took a little too long given the charter's large number of boats, and especially the mandatory return by 5 p.m. on Friday. Spending the last night in port leaves a bitter taste.

We were in Biograd again. This time with an Elan 45. From Biograd we went to Hvar and back. The boat was in impeccable condition and had enough space for 6 people.

The boat owner was extremely kind and the boat was in good order, but if I may say so, it is not suited to sailing with a reduced crew. This boat requires at least two people who know how to perform the necessary maneuvers, because the mainsail controls at the winch next to the drum are too far from the helm (clearly this is not a defect attributable to the owner). Another positive aspect was the owner's effort to find the watch (found!) that my friend had lost on board, and his willingness to return it.

I had a good experience because, despite two fairly significant problems, I found reliable and serious support from Birker that helped me get through them. Windlass: tighten it properly, otherwise the clutch slips and releases the chain. The Volvo Penta 75 engine tends to overheat; the impeller had almost certainly already been replaced. I should stress that everything was resolved effectively and efficiently. As for the sailing, I can say the boat was a joy — I loved it. Leaving San Vincenzo with 30 knots, two reefs in the main and the jib up. Peaks of 40 knots with the spinnaker almost buried, average speed 8 knots, and Orione seemed to be enjoying herself too.
