Staff at ionian catamaran charters were excellent. friendly, helpful, and pleasant to deal with. The boat itself has problems with the electrical system. The charter listing indicated it would be fitted with solar panels but they were not fitted. I don't think they ever had been. The days we used it were normal for very light air required using engine a lot with extended engine running time of always 3 to 5 hours a day. Every night the low voltage alarm would go off at around 0300 due to lack of battery charge. Aside for the nuisance of alarms, this was frustrating as it meant the refrig in cabin and cockpit were not working part of the night. We are experience yacht owners and know how to operate a 12v boat. The two service batteries just did not charge up properly from alternator. On return the staff said that the alternator had recently been replaced and the batteries also. But there is something else that needs rectification. Luckily engine battery is separate so no problem to crank engine but you can't do that to charge batteries when med-moored in a quiet greek harbor after sundown. Typically moored and no shore power avail. The level gauge system for water tank and diesel fuel were useless. Both tanks were full when we started and after 3 days levels still showed 100% for fuel and the water tank never changed from 63%. On a boat I own I can stick the tank, estimate consumptions etc but a charter is black hole so we had no idea levels and fuel and water available. Few desirable harbors had fresh water and even fewer offer diesel. I think a charter boat fitted with gauging due to no stick access must have working level gauging. on last day the fuel dropped on gauge from 100% to 50% in a matter of minutes. Not fair for a charterer to be guessing on the fuel and water available. These things have to be calibrated properly and maintained. The boat had minor cabinetry damages that Ionian acknowledged during pre-inspection but we felt they should be getting repaired between charters. I would not likely charter a Hansa yacht next time. Tutto bene in quanto in vacanza si sta’ sempre bene . Purtroppo quest’anno l’ armatore non è’ stato 6 stelle in quanto l’ imbarcazione non era del 2023 e’ le pulizie iniziali sono state inesistenti. Per il futuro mi e’ stato consigliato di scegliere armatori a conduzione familiare

Thank you for the feedback, which we passed onto the base and equally received their feedback as well.

Please kindly note that the lead chartered did not speak English, which was a slight barrier in the communication with the local base staff, which does not speak Italian. The client’s kids were translating in order to assist.

We are surprised to received such a harsh feedback and rating with regards to the check/in out, base handling and cleaning of the boat.

To start with, the clients had notified us that their ETA was 22:30, but they came at around 10-11 AM, which was unexpected. Of course our base tried to re-arrange the cleaning order of the boats and provide the clients with a check in as early as possible. Hence the boat was ready and the clients stepped onboard at around 3 PM ( despite the fact that the contractual embarkation time was 5 PM). The clients could have stepped onboard even earlier if it wasn’t for the language barrier, as a girl from the crew was translating everything to them in Italian.

As for the cleaning issue, the client’s kids came to the office at the checkout and stated/notified us they found a forgotten toothbrush from the previous charter and a cigarette but. Our base staff apologised , explained that the cleaning staff tried to fasten the cleaning in order to assist the clients embark as early as possible on the check in day and refunded the clients with the amount of 180 EUR ( which was the cleaning amount ). This was the whole cleaning amount, despite the fact that the boat was perfectly cleaned other than the aforementioned two issues.

The clients’ check out document was very good as can be seen below and it is not in line with the form they filled on your website I am afraid.

We would really love to see Mr Giuseppe and his Crew onboard another boat with us in the not too distant future , as the client would be eligible for our repeater client discount, on top of any other disount applicable at the time of his re-booking.

Ionian catamarans (a company that represent them in Palairos) Has exceptionally serviceable and responsible staff. Base manager is friendly and welcoming. He gave invaluable advice on the itinerary and winds. The boat was clean, had a good owner's touch, and there was no shortage in ropes, fenders, cookware, finns/masks, bedding, towels and toilet paraphernalia. However, the boat itself (Kebitree, isla 40 2023) left a strange impression of either poorly built or having gone through incredible troubles. Unexpected for a cat that has been in operation for no more than a year and a half. Most of the doors didn't close due to supposed deformation of the bulkheads. Door locks were stuck or didn't lock. The electronic indicators for water and fuel didn't work. Steering wheel was tuned the way it is hard to steer manually (it is supposed to resist, because isla 40 steering wheel has no lock screw, but on this boat it was too uncomfortable). On the other hand all the engines incl. the offboard and generator worked well. Davits has an electrical whinch, but it was constantly overlapping over and then tearing the rope. We used it accurately, in tiniest pulses, but it kept happen. M.b. thicker rope is required there. The running rigging is a bit wear and requires a good wash in fresh water.

La prima crociera non si scorda mai

Barca in buone condizioni, con buona attrezzatura per la navigazione: buon motore, buon bow truster e buone vele. Carente per quel che riguarda l'equipaggiamento interno (stoviglie, luci, etc).

Il catamarano era in discrete condizioni, ma l'aria condizionata non funzionava in una della quattro cabine e alla partenza c'era un forte odore nelle cabine. Inoltre erano presenti formiche in cucina. L'aria condizionata é stata riparata su richiesta e l'odore é migliorato (ma non scomparso...) nelle cabine.

Regarding the boat, when you called us about a strange smell we came and we checked together all tanks and bilges and you saw that everything was dry and we explained to you that the smell was probably coming from the marina seawater, which is used by toilets, A/C pumps, etc, and explained that when you leave the marina that light smell will disappear. When you informed us about the faulty A/C unit (was working but not cooling the air strong enough) we offered to act immediately. We never had any report about ants before or after your charter week, so it could be from some fruits or vegetables. We are always trying to do our best to ensure that all our boats are in the best of conditions and clients enjoy their holidays to the fullest.

We would be happy to see you again in the future.

Tutto perfetto

Bellissima vacanza. Marenauta molto efficiente. Raffaele che ci ha seguito è stato molto paziente. L'armatore gentile e veloce nella procedura di check-in. Unico rilievo avremmo voluto stare più giorni a Paxos e Antipaxos, o andare a sud, e non andare a Parga che è tremenda. Non abbiamo capito perché lo skipper abbia deciso per noi di andare sulla terra ferma.

Nell'insieme non mi sento di dare un voto alto perché il catamarano noleggiato ci ha dato un po' troppi problemi (alcuni piccoli ma altri molto grandi) Mancavano le posate (non erano sufficienti per tutti i membri del nostro equipaggio) Durante uno dei primi ancoraggi il catamarano ha perso L'ANCORA Poiché si è staccata dalla catena rimanendo depositata sul fondale a 13 metri di profondità... quindi recuperando la catena ci siamo resi conto che non c'era più l'ancora attaccata.. Questo inconveniente ci ha costretti a perdere un giorno perché abbiamo dovuto rivolgerci ad un diving center per poterla recuperare ed inoltre abbiamo dovuto sostenere un costo non previsto. (Allego foto del subacqueo che ci ha assistito nel recupero dell'ancora smarrita) L'ultimo giorno infine, durante la navigazione verso la marina Gouvia, IL MOTORE SIBISTRO DI È GUASTATO DURANTE LA NAVIGAZIONE producendo fumo ed UN FORTE odore di bruciato. Questo incidente ci ha costretti a proseguire la navigazione con un solo motore fino al nostro rientro in base. Per finire, dopo tutti questi grossi inconvenienti, ci sono anche stati chiesti soldi per un oblò di un bagno che presentava una crepa (cosa che ho segnalato fin dalla prima sera alla persona che ci ha fatto il check-in... ma mi è stato detto che nell'esatto momento del nostro ingresso in barca non lo avevamo segnalato

Tutto bene, il Sig Stefan molto gentile e disponibile, barca ok secondo aspettative, solo scomodo il plotter che non era presente nella plancia ma era situato all' interno . Cosa negativa: abbiamo perso circa 3 ore, e quindi per noi l'intera giornata di sabato, per un test con uscita in mare con un esaminatore che consideriamo una inutile perdita di tempo in quanto avevamo presentato nella lista dell'equipaggio n. 2 persone con patente nautica. Sono già pochi 6 giorni immaginati 5!! Grazie comunque per l'offerta inviataci e vi contatteremo per le prossime vacanze.
